Endomondo - interval training

Interval training feature
When the interval feature was released late March 2012 it was the most requested feature by the Endomondo users. Seen from the user's perspective it is split up in three main sections: creating/editing an interval program, following an interval program, and analyzing the interval workout afterwards. Although in the background there are lots of code that makes sure that the interval workout up- and downloading is seamless to the users.
The edit-interval-UI
User can add a title/description, and the intervals here. User can add the high intensity interval, and the pause interval, and then just press the pluss (+) button until there are enough intervals. The "sausage" provides the overview of the whole program. The colors represent intensity and are borrowed from the heat map concept: green = low, yellow = medium, red = high.
The workout dashboard UI in interval program mode

The timer in the top informs the time or distance left in the current program. The audio coach informs through the headset or speaker(s) about intensity and length/duration.
The sausage is added to the graphs in the history details. In that way the user can e.g. compare speed and heart rate with the intensity
The full overview of the executed program showing time, distance, pace, and min-max heart rate. The gray color indicates the interval after the program finished.
